If you own a commercial building, it is important to ensure that your sewer and drain pipes are maintained to prevent any serious issues that may affect business operations. Places that work within the food, retail, industrial or healthcare industry need to have a reliable drainage system, especially if it concerns public welfare and safety.

Preventing blockages

An excess of grease, organic waste, oils, and other objects can lead to drain blockages, particularly in the pipework of bathrooms and kitchens, especially on commercial properties.
If the pipes do become blocked, this hinders the flow of wastewater to the disposal site which then causes further hindrances to the use of toilets and/or sinks, which also may cause a foul smelling odour from the blocked drains as a result.
This issue will need to be addressed promptly, and with help from United Drains, we can offer frequent commercial sewer and drainage maintenance which guarantees that your buildings pipes remain clear and free, even during peak times.

Avoiding pipe issues

When you own or lease a commercial building, it is then the responsibility of your Facilities Manager or Buildings Manager to organise and maintain the drainage and plumbing fixtures, which must then be checked and cleaned on a regular basis. Over time, the pressure from a buildup of minerals, waste or debris puts stress on the pipes, which will then lead to breakages and leaks.

Despite some misconceptions, not all domestic and commercial plumbing issues are the same. Commercial plumbing systems are in constant use and are more like to suffer from certain plumbing issues than residential systems. Not to mention, the size and scale of the problems a commercial plumbing system may experience are very different and require specialist knowledge and tools to repair and maintain them.
